What does it cost to process beef?

Big Hickory Farms recommends a local USDA approved/inspected processor for preparing your grass-fed Angus Beef. The cost of processing your beef is: $35.00 to dress, pack and vacuum seal the beef; plus $.65 per pound (dressed weight) to process your custom order – steaks, hamburger, roasts, or thickness of steaks. You can choose how many pounds for roasts, hamburger packages, etc. You can also have your vacuum sealed grass fed processed beef packed into freezer boxes for $2.00 per box or you can use your own coolers! (By vacuum-sealing the beef, it adds a two year shelf life to your beef).

*NOTE: There is a $200 non-refundable deposit required when you place your beef order.

To start the process of ordering your grass-fed beef, you can fill out the Order Form online and pay your non-refundable $200 deposit to confirm your reservation. We accept all major credit cards through PayPal. You can mail us a deposit along with your Name, Address, Phone, Email and size of cow that you would like. We deliver cows to the butcher at the end of each month, year-round. When it’s time to take your cow to the butcher, it will be weighed and the final weight will be emailed to you along with the final invoice. At this time, you will have 10 days to finish paying for your beef. Once the cow is delivered to the butcher, you will need to contact the butcher and give him your customized order for cutting up your beef. You will pay the processing fees to the butcher when you pick the beef up. The beef will hang (or age) for 10 to 14 days before the butcher cuts the beef up according to your specifications. The butcher will contact you shortly after the aging process to let you know when to pick your beef up!
